Nairobi Airport Transportation

By Andrew Lewis on 14 Sep 2023

Nairobi’s international airport is the busiest airport in East Africa and the largest aviation facility in Kenya. Once called Embakasi Airport and Nairobi International Airport, now named for the first president of Kenya and a key figure in its independence movement, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport serves as a major hub for various destinations worldwide.

Away from the airport, Kenya’s capital offers plenty of sightseeing action. Nairobi National Park stands amid a backdrop of skyscrapers, but its wide-open grass plains are graced with many diverse species of African wildlife. Visitors could catch glimpses of four of the Big Five — lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard — along with zebras and giraffes and many birds and reptiles. The Giraffe Center is a sanctuary for Rothschild giraffes, established to help save and repopulate the East African subspecies, while Nairobi National Museum features exhibition galleries with distinct themes relating to Kenya’s culture, nature, history, and contemporary art.

But before you can get to all that Kenya has to offer, you need to navigate Jomo Kenyatta airport. This essential guide to transportation and transfers will help you find your feet upon landing and be ready to take on the city. (Flying into Mombasa’s Moi International Airport instead? We’ve got you covered there too.)
