There are multiple types of visas for foreign nationals looking to enter New Zealand. Some of the visas available to US citizens are extendable, and others are not.
- NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority): Not renewable. If you are already in New Zealand and want to extend your stay, you must apply for a visa, not another NZeTA.
- Visitor Visa: Renewable under specific conditions; you must reapply for a new visa.
- Business Visitor Visa: Renewable under specific conditions; you must reapply for a new visa.
- Entrepreneur Work Visa: Renewable under specific conditions; you can stay 12 months in the start-up stage of your visa, then another 24 months once you have shown that you have set up your business.
